A Ziggy Valentine
Do you remember Ziggy?
Since everything seems to become popular again after 20 years or so.
I figure I will bring back Ziggy. Single handily of course.
OK stop laughing!
For anyone who has no idea what I’m speaking of, Ziggy was a cartoon when I was a kid). One February when I was young, I had to make a project for school and came across a paper napkin that had a fun Valentine Ziggy on it. I used it for my inspiration. I loved my poster. I even remember giving it to someone I had a crush on. Wonder if he liked it as much as I did.
I still have a vivid memory of my poster. I wanted to create a similar image for a fun Valentine treat.
I started with a four-inch brownie. I made a new recipe and like the flavor, but am still searching for a brownie with a better texture.I frosted the edge of the brownie with chocolate buttercream frosting. The rest is royal icing. I typically use a glaze icing when icing my cookies, but have used royal icing and thought It would help me achieve the detail I was hoping to achieve. I’m not a great planner and although I planned out all my colors and what would be my major flood color. I did not thin out the red and flesh colors and wished they were more fluid. But Ziggy didn’t seem to mind, I think he was just happy I brought him back!!!
Here is what I used to make the brownies, don’t forget to share with me your favorite brownie recipe 🙂 I’m still searching for a fabulous one.
6 oz melted chocolate
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
2 Tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
After I melted the chocolate, I blended it with the butter and sugar I had creamed together. Then added the remaining ingredients. Baked at 350 for 30 minutes.
I baked this in a four-inch spring form pan, it’s like a big brownie cookie. Moist and dense and more than a couple bites. Big enough to share, or eat it all yourself! YUM!
Yeah, Ziggy wishes you a Happy Valentine’s Day even if you decide he shouldn’t make a huge comeback 🙂
