Pancake Mix Biscuits
If you have pancakes mix and a few other pantry staples, I’ll show you how to easily make delicious biscuits! These pancake mix biscuits are not only quick to make, but they’ll also disappear fast too!
You don’t have to be from the South to love a plate of biscuits and gravy…
and you don’t have to visit there to get them either.
These biscuits will have you enjoying any time of day or night.
This small batch of 4 biscuits can be multiplied easily to make more. But I find sometimes it’s great to have just a small batch.
Now what you put on the biscuits is totally up to you…
will you be slicing them open and making it a full-on breakfast sandwich with bacon, eggs, and cheese… OH My!
or will you simply dunk them into some country gravy? I have a new “lighter” healthier country gravy recipe for you to try. It’s made with ground turkey, and it’s DELICIOUS!
Maybe you prefer biscuits slathered with butter and jam.
Me, I’ll take biscuits any way you want to serve them, I like it all!
You could pile on some fried chicken and drizzle it with syrup and that would be fine too 🙂
You’re only a few simple steps away from enjoying some hot out of the oven biscuits!
Ingredients you’ll use
- pancake mix (the complete type that you only need to add water to (I use Krustez brand)
- baking powder
- milk
- vinegar
- butter
- salt
*The vinegar will give the biscuits a great any flavor similar to buttermilk, it will also reduce the sweetness of the pancake mix.
Instructions to make biscuits
- Place the pancake mix in a medium bowl with the baking powder.
- Add the vinegar to the milk and let it “curdle” a bit, about 1 minute.
- Add the milk mixture, butter, and salt to the pancake mix, and stir everything with a fork to combine.
- Place the dough on a sheet of wax paper.
- Cut it into 4 even pieces.
- Gently shape each portion to a roundish shape, don’t roll it or press firmly, just gently push the corners in.
- Place the dough on the skillet or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake the biscuits.
- Then brush immediately with butter.
Why make biscuits out of pancake mix?
There has been a shortage of flour recently, that is one reason. Most households have pancake mix, not an exact fact, but I’m in the know and I’ve been made aware that it’s a common pantry staple.
So I set out to make an easy biscuit recipe from pancake mix, the complete pancake mix type that you only need to add water to for pancakes, you’ll need a couple more items for the biscuits, they are really yummy.
If you have minimal items on hand, pancake mix is the one to have!
Garlic Herb Biscuits:
Add a 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or garlic salt to the biscuit mixture before baking and add 1/4 teaspoon to the tablespoon of melted butter to brush on top of the biscuits when they come out of the oven.
Cheddar Biscuits:
Add a tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese to the melted butter to brush on top of the biscuits for cheesy biscuits, you can also add 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese to the dough when you make it if you’d like. Alternatively, you can add 1/4 cup cheddar cheese for fun cheddar biscuits as well.
With the recent shortage of flour and sugar and baking supplies I heard lots of people still have and could get pancake mix, so here are some other great recipes to use pancake mix in.

Can I sub almond or oat milk?
I’m sure either would be fine to use instead of regular milk.
